Shattered Armistice

Diaspora is a single and multiplayer space fighter combat game set in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica universe.

Initially called Beyond The Red Line, I joined the team to compose several tracks for the original soundtrack. The initial music direction was lead by Tina Huang. When Beyond The Red Line became Diaspora, a few new composers joined the team to produce the final soundtrack you can hear in the game.

About the project

I wanted to work on this project because I am a big fan of Bear McCreary’s work. And it was a big challenge to write music that come (at least a bit) close to what you can hear in the TV Show.

I listened even more to the original scores of BSG and also a ton of music using a lot of percussions to find some inspiration and ideas. I am pretty happy with what I came up with for the final soundtrack.

My work on this project caught the hear of Mike Tipul. A few years later I started to work on House Of The Dying Sun with him.

Why two versions of “Asteroids”

The first version of the track was a bit rough. I was especially unhappy with the sound of the strings and horns which sound fake as hell. I left the two version on the soundtrack because :

  • Some people around me liked it and thought it would be nice to have it on the soundtrack
  • It gives some perspective on the evolution of my work during the project
